Steaming is an excellent choice when cooking food for babies. It can take a tad longer, and one has to invest in tools such as a food steamer or steamer basket, but the method can soften fruits and vegetables to the greatest extent. Steaming also allows fruits and vegetables to retain a high volume of nutrients.
Boiling is not considered ideal since it forces the vegetables and fruits to lose a major portion of their nutrients. If one decides to boil the veggies and fruits to make purees, they must save the cooking water and add it to thin the consistency.
Chop the selected produce using a high-quality fruit and vegetable cutter and then add them to a pot of boiling water. Check the pieces frequently for softness. If they are fork-tender, please take them out.
