A shower is a party whose main function is to provide items to the guest of honor. Traditionally, a bridal bathe is a means for an engaged girl to be "showered" with items for her upcoming married life (see hope chest). are expected to deliver a small present related to the upcoming life event. Somewhat much less formal receptions are common in tutorial settings, generally to honor a visitor lecturer, or to rejoice an essential day similar to retirement of a revered member of employees.
