The Metro Half Height Safety PSD is usually installed in aboveground stations, as it can effectively segregate the station platform from the train tracks. This will significantly reduce any unforeseen safety concerns (eg. passengers falling onto the tracks).
The Half Height PSD, not only enhances platform safety, but it will not hinder the air circulation of the platform (usually a non-air-conditioned platform).
The PSD is linked to the train signaling system, and synchronized to open and close together with the train doors, to allow boarding and alighting of passengers from the train.
