This hasn't been an environment in when i was willing to talk proudly about my heritage. I retreated and assimilated as rapidly as We possibly could. I was very ashamed of my base. I was particularly embarrassed about my parents. Compared with my friend's parents, mine seemed ignorant and crude. Not one classmate ever met mom and dad or visited my home during 5 years I attended the school. I visited within homes although until the finish of grade thirteen did I invite any friends to my own.
