British Media's Evaluation of Son Heung-min: "Tired After the Asian Cup... Not the Best Season"
Season Finale Gives Son Heung-min a Rating of 8… Vicario and Van der Pen 'Rating of 9'
He looked tired after the Asian Cup, but he still contributed a lot at the forefront.
On the 31st (Korean time), British media outlet Football London gave Son Heung-min a score of 8 while rating the players of Tottenham Hotspur, who finished 5th in the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) season, saying, "It wasn't the best season."
Son Heung-min's rating is below Guglielmo Vicario, Michy van der Pen (both 9 points), Christian Romero, and Destiny Udogi (both 8.5 points).
Pap Sarre also received the same rating as Son Heung-min, 8.
Son Heung-min has been the Tottenham captain this season, scoring 17 goals and 10 assists in the regular league, and has shown outstanding performances, ranking 8th in the EPL scoring rankings and tying for 3rd in assists.
Even if you only look at the team's performance, he was tied for first place with Brennan Jones for most goals and assists.
However, Football London did not give Son Heung-min the highest rating.
The evaluation was that the results were somewhat disappointing compared to his skills.
The media pointed out that "Son Heung-min scored 27 goals (17 goals, 10 assists) in 36 official matches (35 regular league matches + 1 League Cup match), but did not show his best performance this season."
Then, they tried to find the cause in the Asian Cup held early this year.
Football London said, "Son Heung-min calmly performed his role as captain and was a true leader of the team both on and off the field," and "However, Son Heung-min did not have the best season due to the increased match schedule.
He looked tired and overdone right after the Asian Cup.
But Son Heung-min still contributed a lot at the front line," he explained.
