Cyanobacteriochromes (CBCRs) are cyanobacterial photoreceptors that exhibit photochromism between two states a thermally stable dark-adapted state and a metastable light-adapted state with bound linear tetrapyrrole (bilin) chromophores possessing 15Z and 15E configurations, respectively.
