Delhi to Jaisalmer Road Trip Guide
By road, the trip from Delhi to Jaisalmer takes 13.5 hours and is 761 km. Before reaching Jaisalmer, the most popular route is via NH11 which passes through Rohtak, Bhiwani, Bikaner and Pokhran. The road is smooth as it is in good condition. As you pass through Haryana and Rajasthan, the scenery changes from urban to open fields and then to the golden sands of the desert.
An alternate route is via NH 754K and NH11 which is 790 km in roughly 14 hours. Before joining NH11 near Shri Dungargarh, this route takes a different route through Gurugram, Narnaul, Mandawa and Ratangarh. If you are interested in historic towns, this is a great option especially Mandawa which is famous for its havelis with frescoes.
Both routes combine traditional Rajasthani landscapes with modern highways. The best way to enjoy the long journey is to make stops at strategic points where you can see forts, try local cuisine and learn about Rajasthani culture. Before you reach the beautiful city of Jaisalmer, the journey gives you a glimpse of the history and grandeur of the desert state.
