Korea Tennis Association to Host 2023 Tennis Division League Championships!

From beginners to professionals, everyone enjoys tennis!

The Korea Tennis Association will hold the '2023 Tennis Division League Championship' from November 18 (Sat) to 19 (Sun) at the Wanju County Office Tennis Court in Wanju, Jeollabuk-do, and other auxiliary venues to determine the strongest clubs in the country.

The Tennis Division League is an integrated league for professional and recreational sports where beginners to professional players can enjoy tennis at different levels across the country. It aims to create an accessible tennis environment by lowering the entry barrier for beginners and standardize the competition management system for each level.

The '2023 Tennis Division League', in its second year of operation, has been subdivided into seven levels, including ▲T1 (professional), ▲T2 (professional + professional), ▲T3 (professional), ▲T4 (advanced), ▲T5 (advanced), ▲T6 (general), and ▲T7 (beginner). Next year, the company plans to expand its business scope and launch the T4 League.

This year, for seven months from May to November, the T5, T6, and T7 leagues were held at the advanced, general, and beginner levels, respectively, with a total of 754 teams and more than 5,700 players participating in 145 regular leagues in 16 cities and provinces across the country.

The T5 league was organized for KTA, KATO, and KATA national tournament winners, the T6 league for teams promoted from the previous year's division league, and the T7 league for beginner-level players.

After three full leagues per year, the winning teams participated in a promotion playoff, while the last-place teams were relegated to the lower leagues.

A total of 52 teams, including 28 T7 teams, 12 T6 teams, and 12 T5 teams representing cities and provinces across the country, will compete for the championship, which will be held for teams that will be promoted to the higher leagues next year.

Full league group stage will be held on the first day, with the first and second place teams in each group advancing to the final tournament on the second day. The T5-6 leagues will play quarterfinals and the T7 leagues will play round of 16, with a best-of-three doubles format. All matches will be played in a no-ad 5:5 tiebreak 7-point format.
The total prize pool is 24 million won, with the winners taking home 5 million won for the T5 League, 4 million won for the T6 League, and 3 million won for the T7 League. The winners will receive a trophy and medal in addition to the cash prize. All participating teams will receive a one-night stay in an official ball, a commemorative badge, and a towel.

Son Young-ja, Acting President of the Korea Tennis Association, said, "After the successful completion of the leagues across the country, it is a pleasure to be a part of the championship. I hope all the participants enjoyed playing tennis through the Division League and spent happy days in their busy and difficult lives. The Korea Tennis Association will continue to do its best to ensure the successful establishment of the division system and the development of tennis."

The 2023 Tennis Division League Championship is organized by the Korea Sports Council, hosted by the Korea Tennis Association and the City Tennis Association, and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Sports Promotion Agency and Wanju County Government.

The opening and closing ceremonies and key matches will be broadcast live on YouTube's Korea Tennis Association TV and Naver Sports. Some matches will be commentated by former national tennis player Na Jung-woong (Daegu City Hall).

Excellent Kim Sun-koo, "Focus on winning the first game with long breaths to improve my body condition"

Team East Seoul's 27-year-old hopeful, Kim Sun-goo, has been riding a bike since childhood thanks to the influence of his maternal uncle and paternal aunt, both of whom were competitive cyclists.

As an amateur, she raced medium and long distances, which gave her solid endurance. However, the process of building the muscles needed for shorter distances never really took off. From the time I was preparing for the race until now, I've been working hard to improve my body composition.

In order to complete the improvement in two or three years, he decided to take a long breath and lead the transformation of his body step by step.

Since his debut at the starting level earlier this year, Kim has won nine consecutive podiums with his overwhelming performance, and he is quickly gaining recognition in the excellent level. She has been utilizing her endurance to establish herself as a front-running powerhouse.

Although she faces the immediate difficulty of breaking through the barrier of rivalry to get to the front of the pack, she is not giving up and is working to break through the barrier.

"Rankings are important, but being recognized by other athletes is the most important thing," said Kim Sun-koo. "If we improve our constitution and understand the sport perfectly through numerous races, the results will follow naturally."

"In order to become a colorful butterfly, everyone must have a chrysalis period," said Seol Kyung-seok, editor-in-chief of Kang Kyung-ryun. "The time of patience that you invest in seeing the far future with a clear goal will never be in vain." Kim is spending the time of patience in the chrysalis to become a colorful butterfly.

Kyungwoon General Headquarters distributes 10,000 kg of kimchi to 1500 underprivileged neighborhoods

The General Headquarters of Kyungwoon Kyungjeong, the National Sports Promotion Organization (Chairman Cho Hyun-jae), announced that it will deliver 10,000 kilograms of kimchi to 1,500 families in need by next month (a donation of 27 million won).

The headquarters, which operates 16 kyungryun kyungjeong businesses in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Chungcheong Province, as well as training centers (Yeongju and Incheon) that train kyungryun kyungjeong athletes, is holding a kimchi sharing event to help neighbors in need near each business site during the kimchi season.

First, on November 17, Kyungwoon Training Center held a 'Love Kimchi Soaking Event' at the Saemaeul Hall in Yeongju City, where all 18 Kyungwoon Athlete Candidates, who will graduate at the end of this month, and training center employees participated as volunteers and completed the entire process from soaking kimchi to boxing.

The 5,000 kilograms of kimchi were evenly distributed to 1,000 underprivileged families in the city.

The Cheonan, Gwanak, and Jungnang branches of Gyeongryun Gyeongjeong also practiced neighborly love by delivering 1,500 kilograms of kimchi to 160 families, including the elderly, basic living recipients, and the underprivileged, in cooperation with local welfare organizations until the 16th of this month.

In addition, Misari Gyeongjeong Branch and Gangnam Suwon Siheung Branch will continue sharing events until next month.

The donations were delivered in the form of Onnuri gift certificates, which can be used at traditional markets, to benefit not only the underprivileged but also local small businesses and the local economy.

The volunteers said, "The sweat we shed today was valuable for our neighbors in need. We hope that the kimchi delivered will help them have a warm winter."

"We are part of the local community, and sharing with those in need around us comes as a responsibility," said Lee Hong-bok, General Manager of Kyungwoon Kyungjeong. "We will continue to practice social responsibility and ESG management as a public institution by conducting volunteer activities such as sharing briquettes for marginalized neighbors in the community next month."

'New ice queen' Kim Min-sun wins bronze in new skating shoes

The "new ice queen" Kim Min-sun (24-Goongju City Hall) has won her first medal of the 2023-2024 season.

Kim Min-sun won the bronze medal in the first race of the Women's 500-meter Division A (First Division) at the second International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Speedskating World Cup 2023-2024 on Sunday in Beijing, China, with a time of 38.00 seconds.

Starting in Group 9 with Beijing 2022 women's 500m gold medalist Erin Jackson (USA), Kim passed the first 100 meters in 10.62 seconds, eighth overall. She then spurted to move up the order. The bronze medal was her first podium finish of the season.

Jackson took gold in 37.91, with Kimi Goetsu (JPN - 37.92) taking silver.

Kim's medal is even more significant considering she is still adjusting to her new skates.

Kim swept the women's 500-meter gold medals from the first through fifth World Cups of the 2022-2023 season before switching skates in September. With her sights set on the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, she switched to a new pair of skates before the season to give herself time to adjust.

After finishing fifth in the women's 500 meters at the first ISU Speedskating World Cup event in Japan on Oct. 10 with a time of 37.99 seconds, Kim moved up two spots in the rankings in less than a week.

Meanwhile, Kim Jun-ho (Gangwon-do) won the bronze medal in the men's 500 meters in 35.00 seconds at the same event.

Japan's Wataru Morishige (34.72) and Yuma Murakami (34.82) finished first and second.
